Development Communications & Events Intern
Iris House, a 16-year-old social service agency with a mission to serve women, families and communities affected by HIV/AIDS, is offering an exciting internship opportunity to the right candidate.
Working closely with the Director of Development and program staff, the Development Communications and Events Intern will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of the following materials:
Proposals and reports to private and government funding organizations;
Event Sponsorship Packages and Invitations;
Silent auction materials;
Text for mail and e-mail appeals to individual donors;
Text for informational flyers and brochures;
Articles for the newsletter, other publications and the website.
The opportunity involves phone calls to prospective event sponsors and in-kind silent auction donors to gauge interest directly solicit donations, and follow-up.
The internship requires a time commitment of at least 15 hours each week.
Qualifications: Excellent writing skills and telephone manners are a must. Some prior experience in sales and familiarity with non-profit organizations either on-staff or as a volunteer would be ideal.
The position is unpaid but represents an ideal opportunity for a talented college senior, graduate student or a career changer contemplating a career in the non-profit sector.
